A workshop was held on 10/04/2022 gathering Idaho National Laboratory (INL) experts to develop a roadmap for future fusion-related modeling & simulation (M&S) activities. A total of 43 participants, (34 in-person and 9 remote) contributed to the workshop. After a plenary session with presentations from the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) and the Institutional Planning and Programs (IPP) office, attendees were subdivided into three groups: (1) plasma & wall (PW), (2) blanket & tritium (BT), (3) structure & plant (SP). The overall guiding objectives for each breakout session was building towards an ‘integrated whole device modeling’ capability at INL. The only limiting criteria was to leverage INL capabilities as much as possible and leverage lab strengths (notably as relating to fission M&S). From the breakout groups, the top 15 high-priority scope items are summarized here. The list should not be considered exhaustive, but rather to highlight specific research scopes that would be key to establish INL capabilities in the Fusion M&S space. Items were prioritized based on a ‘bottom-up’ approach to build and establish capabilities. Approximate estimates for costs and time to implement each scope is provided.
